Jodi Hummel O.D.

Jodi M. Hummel, Doctor of Optometry (OD), has joined Cedar Run Eye Center in Beulah and Traverse City. Dr. Hummel returns to northern Michigan after serving as an optometrist at Cornerstone Eye Associates since 2001 in Rochester, New York. Prior to 2001, Dr. Hummel interned at Cedar Run Eye Center in the fall of 2000 and was previously on staff at Cedar Run Eye Center as a technician. Dr. Hummel earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry in 2001 and has a BS degree in Applied Biology from Ferris State University.

"Since I was a child I have always thought that the visual process was intriguing," says Dr. Hummel. "I decided early in high school that eye care was what I wanted as a career. I like helping people and connecting with them on a personal level."

At Cedar Run Eye Center, Dr. Hummel will be providing primary vision care, including examining the patient's eyes to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cataracts and glaucoma. She will also test patients' visual acuity, depth and color perception, prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Dr. Hummel is state licensed and also has licensure through the State of Michigan in therapeutic medications which allows her to prescribe medications for glaucoma, eye infections and other eye conditions.

Dr. Hummel will be serving her patients in Beulah and Traverse City, caring for patients of all ages. She will also be working closely with cataract surgery patients.

In her spare time, Dr. Hummel enjoys biking, hopes to run a marathon someday and loves spending time on the water sailing and jet-skiing with her husband and family.
